The Mary Queen Food Pantry provides basic needs for our struggling brothers and sisters in Friendswood, Alvin, part of Pearland, and referrals from specific organization. We provide groceries (including meat, eggs and fresh produce from Mary’s Garden), personal hygiene & cleaning supplies, and limited assistance with utility bills. With the rising cost of groceries and utilities and the increase in the number of clients, this ministry needs your support.
If your selected ministry is fully funded, we will thoughtfully redirect the funds to another ministry.
Backpacks for the Homeless
For those of God’s children who are unhoused, backpacks are essential. It is their storage for everything they own. Backpacks are offered to unhoused neighbors who come to the Food Pantry and they are also sent to a homeless day shelter in Galveston.
Shower Ministry
The Shower Ministry is a way to provide our unhoused neighbors hope and the ability to restore a sense of human dignity. Donations to this ministry cover the following items.
Temporary Housing
Occasions arise when we need to provide safe shelter for an individual or family. We can give rest and safety to an unhoused neighbor. We can give an evicted family or a mother leaving an abusive home some time to regroup and make a longer term plan.
Bus Fare
Donations go to Our Daily Bread in Galveston to assist our unhoused neighbors with needed transportation.
Ministry of Compassion
Fast food gift cards are given to homeless individuals who come to the Food Pantry or for a special occasion for other Food Pantry clients. We also like to have gas cards available for our clients.
We work closely with Community In Schools in both FISD and CCISD. CIS is the nations largest dropout prevention organization with a mission to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
