Mission Statement

Elementary Faith Formation supports and assists parents in the privilege and responsibility of passing on their Catholic faith to their children by providing formal and systematic catechesis, sacramental preparation and an environment that draws them more deeply into communion with Jesus Christ

Ministry Description

Elementary Faith Formation provides opportunities for children to know Christ and his teachings by promoting a knowledge of the faith, Liturgy and Sacraments, moral formation, how to pray, an active participation in the life and mission of the Church, and a missionary spirit to be present as Christians in society.

Activities

• Grade-Level Catechetical Instruction fro Ages Pre-K4 to Grade 6
• Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults adapted for Children
• Sacrament Preparation for Reconciliation and Eucharist
• Children's Liturgy of the Word, Sundays during the 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM Masses
• Home-Based Catechesis
• Volunteer training and support

Events

"Circle of Grace" safe environment program, Grade-Level Confessions, First Grade Christmas Plays, Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass, Christmas Eve Mass and Vacation Bible School

Volunteer/Service Opportunities

• Volunteers are essential to the success of our ministry! Opportunities include:
  • Elementary Catechist or Aide
  • Pre-school Catechist or Aide
  • Hall Monitor (guardian)
  • Nursery babysitter
  • Faith Sharer (Children's Liturgy of the Word)
  • Sacrament Team Volunteer
• Time Requirements:
  • About one and a half to two hours a week, depending on the ministry. Training is provided.
  • Catechists and Faith Sharers devote an additional hour each week preparing the lesson.
