But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ...Peace and mercy be to all who follow this rule. (Gal 6:14, 16)
We seek to show God's love and concern to those who are hurting by reaching out to them and giving them the ultimate sign of God's love - the cross. Our mission is to encourage others to find hope in The Cross.
In this ministry at Mary Queen, our main purpose is to provide other ministries with hand-made wooden crosses. These crosses are a visible sign of God's love for His children. The Mary Queen Woodworkers hope to share His love with those who are hurting. If it is a struggling family at our food pantry, a family in mourning at a funeral, or a family who had their home rebuilt after Harvey, our wooden crosses are meant to be a sign of hope and God's love for all.
The Mary Queen Wood Workers have been busy with many projects. The most exciting one is our newly completed workshop located in the garage at Mary’s House at the back of the property. Anyone interested in wood working is invited to join this unique and meaningful new ministry. All skill levels are welcome! The group meets twice a week at the workshop on Wednesday at 7:00 PM and Saturday at 9:00 AM.
In the past year we have made tables for the church narthex, a storage cabinet for the church, crosses and crucifixes for flood victims, food pantry clients, funerals, vocation ministry, prayer kneelers, etc. and of course the workshop! We have several projects planned for the rest of this year, including more crosses, crucifixes, chairs, Christmas ornaments and items for our booth at the Annual Christmas Bazaar.
Annual Christmas Bazaar
As our meetings become work meetings, we will be working on various projects and all are invited to come and share our love of woodworking.
