Stewardship & Ministry Volunteer Opportunities

Mary Queen Catholic Church is committed to providing a safe environment for all our parishioners, especially our children. All parish programs must abide by the Safe Environment Protecting God’s Children policies put forth by the U.S. Bishops. Safe Environment training at Mary Queen is provided by CMG Connect through the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. CMG Connect is a web-based platform that will assist us to ensure that all clergy, religious, deacons, employees, and volunteers who are over the age of 18, who are or could be in a position of trust with children and vulnerable adults within our parish, are trained to recognize behavior patterns of potential abusers and provide pro-active measures for preventing abuse in any context. This is mandatory training for all volunteers at Mary Queen, regardless of if you work with children. This is directed by our diocese.

The training “Safe Haven-It’s Up To You” is a three-part video, and each part of the video is immediately followed by a brief questionnaire. The session takes approximately one hour to complete. In addition to completing the video session, the volunteer must submit to a criminal background check. This is completed online, immediately after the video. The training and criminal background check can be found at: https://galvestonhouston.cmgconnect.org/. The name for the background check must be entered as listed on the government issued identification. Certification is good for five years from the initial training.
