Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and God of all encouragement, who encourages us in our every affliction, so that we may be able to encourage those who are in any affiliation with the encouragement with which we ourselves are encouraged by God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
Believing in the strength that our Catholic faith gives us during the difficult times, of illness, death and grief, the Ministry of Compassion responds to God's call to comfort and encourage His children.
The mission of the funeral meal ministry is to provide compassionate and loving assistance to bereaved parishioners and the family members of parishioners, by preparing and serving lunch for the grieving family the day of the funeral. We are always in need of parishioners to help work the funeral luncheon as well as prepare and donate food. Please contact Michelle Massey at
funeralmeals@gmail.com or 713-817-1701, if you would like to be on the contact list for funeral meals.
The Ministry of Compassion provides a monthly discussion, open to all, on a topic related to illness, dying, death or grief. The presentations are held in the afternoon on the last Sunday of the month. Recent topics have included Hospice, Saints Associated with Illness and Death, and What To Do With A Difficult Diagnosis.
Two times a year, the Ministry of Compassion offers a nine week DVD series, Walking Through Grief. The series, is lead by a licensed psychologist. It is designed to provide tools for the bereaved to find hope along the difficult journey.
