To provide the Mary Queen Catholic Church Community with an Emergency Management Committee to preserve and protect the safety of parishioners, staff, students, visitors and the surrounding local community against known and anticipated natural and man-made hazards.
The Emergency Management Committee (EMC), under the protection of St. Michael the Archangel, assists the Pastor, Pastoral Administration, Parish Councils and Parish Ministries with all emergency management and planning activities at the parish. The EMC shall develop, publish and serve as custodian of the Mary Queen Catholic Church's site-specific "All-Hazards Emergency Operations Plan". The EMC may form sub-committees, working groups, teams, etc., as appropriate, to assist in the overall mission of the committee. Examples include: Safety Team, Medical Response Team, Tropical Weather Team, Parish Festival Safety Team, etc.
The Emergency Management Committee shall appoint/elect, at a minimum, a Chairperson (Emergency Management Coordinator), Vice-Chairperson (Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator) and Secretary/Recorder.
Membership is voluntary and restricted to only registered parishioners. All Members are subject to background screenings and must complete the VIRTUS Training Program.
The Emergency Management Committee, and any specialty teams, will remain active throughout each calendar year providing safety and emergency preparedness services during Weekend/Holy Days of Obligation Masses, select Parish Social Events (e.g., Annual Festival, Christmas Bazaar, Lenten Fish Fries, etc.). The committee, and the specialty teams, will meet regularly to conduct planning activities, participate in training and hold scheduled drills/exercises.
