The Ministry of Compassion provides a monthly discussion open to all, on a topic related to illness, dying, death or grief. Please join us on Sunday, March 31st from 1:00 - 2:30 PM in the Parish Center, Rooms 114/115 for a discussion on “Questions About Heaven, Hell & Purgatory.”
When we lose a loved one, we often ask whether we will know our loved ones and have ongoing relationships with them in Heaven. Other thoughts are whether we will have memories of our earthly life. Is the fire we often speak of in Hell real or is it just a metaphor? God sent his only son to die for us so that our sins may be forgiven. So, why then do we need Purgatory?
The facilitator for March’s discussion is Deacon Derick Soares of Mary Queen Catholic Church. Deacon Derick was ordained in January 2017 and has a Masters of Arts in Pastoral Studies from St Mary’s Seminary/Univ of St. Thomas and is Lvl-11 certified with the Catholic Chaplains Corp. Deacon Derick has faced death at work twice, once on the Amazon and again when sailing out of Houston in August of 1980 right into Hurricane Allan. Join us for what will undoubtedly be an intriguing and enlightening discussion. …AMEN!
