The Mary Queen Sustainability Ministry invites all individuals and families to attend the 4th Annual Earth Day Celebration and education event on Sunday, April 15th, in the Parish Center, Main Hall, after the 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM Masses. Coffee and donuts will be provided.
Our spiritual theme this year will be from Mark 12:31 “...love your neighbor as yourself...". Pope Francis, in his landmark 2015 Laudato 'Si encyclical, emphasized that loving our neighbor is connected to Creation Care and Environmental Stewardship.
Important topics at the education tables this year include: Spirituality and Pope Francis's calling, nature, re-use and recycle, and renewable energy. Many of these topics impact the long term plan for Mary Queen Parish development over the next 10 - 15 years.
Life Teen and EDGE young adults have recently formed Sustainability Committees and are receiving guidance from the Mary Queen Sustainability Ministry. A special invitation is extended to all parish youth, as we celebrate their decision to take a leadership role in Creation Care!
With this celebration, the tradition will continue to have recycle bins for small electronics and eyeglasses in the Parish Hall from April 2nd - 20th.
