Scripture
But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self control. (Galatians 5: 22-23)
Mission Statement
Our Mary Queen community, inspired by faith and love, will live, worship, teach, welcome and support one another in the imitation of Christ.
Ministry Description
Sacramental Preparation: All students preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation MUST submit a recent Baptismal Certificate with a church seal and notations of First Holy Communion when they register for Confirmation. If your child was baptized at Mary Queen Catholic Church, you will be given a form to complete at the first Confirmation class. There is an Additional fee for Confirmation Formation. This additional fee has been reduced to $145.00 this year (2020) from $225.00 last year. This additional fee includes the additional cost of digital books/supplies, etc and the on-campus all-day Confirmation Retreat in the Spring.
Confirmation Requirements/Pre-Requisite: The teen must be baptized and able to renew Baptismal promises; should exhibit an active faith life and knowledge of the Church; participates in the Sacramental life of the Church, especially the Eucharistic liturgies; is willing to commit to an active involvement in the parish Confirmation catechesis; is willing to respond to the call to active ministry; is willing to continue to learn and grow in the faith following Confirmation and through his/her lifetime. For your child to be considered a candidate for the sacrament of Confirmation, they must have attended 75% of the Life Teen / Witnessing the Faith classes the prior year. They must register for Confirmation Formation instead of Life Teen in their Confirmation year and have at least 80% attendance at Confirmation classes that year in order to be confirmed in the Spring. (Attendance is taken twice during most classes and your child must be present both times.) The Youth should also be involved in Youth Events and Activities. Attendance at Confirmation classes, the Life Teen Retreat or other Summer Conferences prior to Confirmation year, and the Confirmation Retreat offered are required.
Expectations: There will be a Readiness Interview with the child at the beginning of preparation to ensure full understanding and preparation of the sacrament. There will also be a final group interview at the end of the Confirmation classes.
The Sacrament of Confirmation by instruction of Daniel Cardinal DiNardo is separate and distinct from the Life Teen Program. These sessions will be provided for all high school youth who seek to be a candidate for Confirmation on Sunday evenings after Life Teen mass. Please see the Confirmation Class schedule provided to you by the Confirmation Director.
Confirmation may be celebrated during the high school years for any student in 10th, 11th or 12th grades who are in compliance with the Confirmation requirements. All meetings are mandatory to attend.
Catholic education does not end with Confirmation! It is expected that all Confirmed teens will continue to attend Life Nights / Witnessing the Faith Classes through their senior year of high school
